About VoiceMale Men’s Choir
We’re a bunch of blokes who like to sing! We like getting together to rehearse and have a go. Every now and then, we like getting on stage to show off our (lack of) skills. When we’re not singing as a men’s choir we natter about important stuff like why Rob asks so many questions. Or whether Nick will be donning a crazy hat again this year.
We’re a male community choir based in Sydney’s Lower North Shore and we rehearse on Tuesday nights from 7.30pm – 9.30pm during school terms. Our choir members come from many parts of Sydney with a good swag of them from North Sydney, Mosman and the Northern Beaches.
As a community choir, there are no auditions for VoiceMale men’s choir and the only requirement is that you have a male voice. Hence our name.
Since our inaugural rehearsal on Tuesday May 2nd 2017 we’ve performed in pubs, local markets, in the Sydney Recital Hall, the Salvation Army Congress Hall and we’ve even been on ABC Radio and were recorded for a professional music video. But plans for VoiceMale men’s choir to tour Cuba are still in their infancy.
We sing four part harmonies (sort of). The songs we sing vary widely and include folk, contemporary (from the ’50s to today), gaelic chants, the odd sea shanty and tribal anthems from around the world.
The VoiceMale Men’s Choir is part of a network called the Sydney Vocal Arts Centre which is run by Sam Shaw. http://sydneyvocalarts.com
